Nahata Jogendranath Mondal Smriti Mahavidyalaya has been offering several B.A courses in its programme of undergraduate level. One of the offered courses is Political Science. Political Science started its journey as a discipline course in undergraduate level firstly introduced as general course in 1990 and as honours course in 2002.At present, this institution has offered both general and honours course simultaneously for the students. Presently, in the department of Political Science including general and honours more than 150 students are studying Political Science as their academic subject in UG level in this institution. This institute also offered a golden opportunity to the students of political science for availing the study materials by providing a large library facility along with the e-resources. From the beginning of this course as academic discipline, in this institute ,experienced faculties have been having a great contribution to the upliftment of department .Now; the department is enriched with the sufficient faculties and has also been making an tireless effort to be regarded as one of the most fascinating courses in this institutition .Presently, total strength of faculty members stands at five with two assistant professors and three SACT teachers- (1) Saraj Lama [Assistant Professor-HOD] (2) Rabiaha Salam [Assistant Professor ] – (3) Jui Biswas [SACT-II ] (4) Bratati Ghosh [SACT-II] and (5) Jojdev Ghosh [SACT-II]. The journey for the departmental infrastructural development is always on the go as well as constantly running after achieving excellency through the performances of its departmental students.
The Department of Political science of this Institution seeks to create such young students who learn to think analytically and reflect critically by providing rational ideas and thoughts.

[2]To explore various subfields of political science such as political theory, comparative politics, International Relations and public policy
[3] To foster critical thinking and analytical skills
[4]To equip students with a deep understanding of political theories, systems and processes
[5]To encourage the students to participate effectively in the democratic process
[6]To make students aware of political issues and social justice.
Political Science is such a subject that deals with the various themes like democracy, governments ,powers , Constitutions, politics, global politics, political culture, comparative politics and Indian Political thought and Philosophies and Western Political Thought and Philosophies. This subject as a discipline enriches its students with the knowledge of political systems, political philosophies and thoughts and governances patterns of the various countries of the world. The course concerned with the political Science is making its students fit for understanding holistic concept of democracies, governances, policies ,diplomacies that which are necessary to be aware of by a individual as a citizen. Democracy will not be successful until and unless its citizens are virtuous and educated. In respect of this fact, the department has been trying to give the best to its students by instilling the ideas of politics and governing patterns into them. It can also firmly be said that without the political knowledge of the citizens no nation, no county can go ahead to the zenith of socio-political developments in democracy.
